School’s almost out. The weather’s warming up. Pools are opening and lakes are ready for boating. Summer is upon us and if you haven’t started planning your summer vacation yet, you better start today!
Summer vacation provides endless opportunities. Honestly, it can be a little tough to choose from the variety of amazing activities available at Gleniffer Lake in the summer months. You might be visiting for a relaxing couples weekend, a fun-filled vacation with your immediate family, or an action-packed family reunion.
At Gleniffer Lake, you’ll find a number of activities and amenities suitable to your groups’ specific needs. That being said, planning a summer vacation can be stressful and time consuming. In the end, a vacation that doesn’t go according to plan might not be enjoyable at all. In this case, your vacation really won’t feel like a true vacation.
Here are a few tips designed to help you get the most of your summer vacation here in Gleniffer Lake:
Read A Book!
While we pride ourselves on offering a myriad of activities during the summer, Gleniffer Lake is also an amazing location for a little rest and relaxation. While you’re hanging out on the beach at the edge of our magnificent lake, you might as well bring a good book and get lost in a good old-fashioned story.
Learn Something New!
Summer vacation is an excellent time to learn a new skill, try a new sport, or master a new language. We’re often conditioned to look at the summer as completely devoid of education value. In fact, increased levels of physical activity, combined with increased exposure to sun may actually make us ripe to learn new skills during the summer.
There’s really no better way to increase your level of happiness. Studies have shown that exercise releases endorphins, which contribute to feelings of happiness and accomplishment. At Gleniffer Lake, you can go for a casual run on the lake’s edge, take a kayak out for an afternoon paddle, run around on the tennis court, or go for a nice swim in our swimming area.
Summer’s a great time to leave those laptops at home and your phones in the car. It’s easy to become over reliant on technology during the winter months. The weather is often less than favorable and going outside requires excessive layering.
If you truly want to connect with your family this summer, try implementing a “no phones” policy for a few days during your vacation. Encourage your family members to unplug from virtual reality and plug into the reality that exists all around them!
Protect Your Skin!
This suggestion is easily overlooked, but it’s extremely important. Bad sunburn can leave you indisposed for days on end. You don’t want to be the one who can’t attend an awesome day of boating on the lake because you neglected to use sunscreen while you were lying on the beach the day before!
